For me, I have always believed that every child can succeed. This belief was something that I learned first hand from my grandmother who was a teacher for years and always told me, “there is good in every child”. It is also what motivates me to do all I can to help each student learn and grow.
I grew up in Dodgeville with parents that helped foster my creativity and taught me respect and empathy at a young age. Our house in Dodgeville was full of energy as I have two younger brothers and we were constantly looking at ways to outdo the other one.
My college experience was one in which many lessons were learned and my love for teaching grew. I earned my Associate’s Degree from UWC – Richland and then graduated from UW – Platteville with an Elementary Education Degree and an Art Education Degree. While at Platteville, I earned two internships with Blackhawk Middle School in Gratiot, Wisconsin and Conrad Elveijum in McFarland, Wisconsin. These two experiences really helped develop my teaching craft. I started teaching in the wonderful community of Sharon, Wisconsin where I learned first hand how important collaboration was as I worked in an incredible team teaching experience. After two years, I met my wonderful wife, Diane, and decided to settle down in Lodi. Although it was difficult to leave Sharon, I have found my home here in Lodi. We live in beautiful Harmony Grove with our daughter Morgan and the ever curious dog Duke (along with a group of fun, egg producing chickens). For my family, we love this area as we are able to spend time in the summer on our boat and in the winter on snowshoes.
During my time here in Lodi I have been able to receive my masters in Reading Education and certified twice as a National Board Teacher. I have also been very proud to help develop and establish this wonderful school we call OSC. It is a school where I can really achieve my goal of helping every child succeed.
